LINCOLNSHIRE VILLAGE SIGNS Books 1 and 2 by Shirley M Addy and Maureen Long
Fred Ham was one of the first collectors of photographs of village signs and a founder member of the Village Sign Society. Living in King's Lynn, with one foot as it were in Norfolk and the other in Lincolnshire, these were his first areas of sign photography. He gave numerous talks on vilage signs and village folklore to many groups in Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire and further afield. On his death in 2001 he left his vast collection of photographs and slides to the Village Sign Society. Unfortunately, there was little in the way of notes. His vast knowledge seems to have been all in his head, since these talks took up most of his time after retirement. We are proud to publish this first collection of his Lincolnshire signs. Shirley Addy and Maureen Long, authors of the Suffolk Sign books series, have contributed the text. Each book covers 32-35 village signs from Lincolnshire, is of A5 size with glossy colour cover and centre pages, 32-35pp.
